Steam Train Post 11: Victorian Railways C Class 2-8-0 Locomotives

 


As we continue on  the history train journey, we arrived at our 11th stop. With this train, we once again leave Great Britain and "fly" over to Victoria, Australia to their Victorian Railways to see their C Class 2-8-0 steam locomotives. They were used for frieght trains that save on costs in operating. 

Here some interesting parts prior to reading the details:

  1. The Consolidation Type was a highly successful steam locomotive design (based on design to replace 4-4-0 design)

  2. Ran passenger services during WWII due to shortage of suitable power
