Steam Train Post #28: BR Standard Class 4 2-6-4T

As we continued on  the history train journey, we arrived at our 28th stop. With this train trip, we leave the Kenya-Uganda Railway (KUR) in Africa and return to the United Kingdom to see British Railroad Standard Class 4 2-6-4T Tank Engine.

  3. Designer: R.A Riddles 

  4. Builder: Brighton,Derby & Doncaster Works 

  5. Built (Year): July 1951-November 1956

    1. Brighton Works  => 130 locomotives 

    2. Derby Works => 15 locomotives

    3. Doncaster Works => 10 locomotives

    4. Total: 155 were built 

  6. Withdrawn: July 1962- July 1967

    1. Guessing 115 were scrapped

  7. Number of Wheels: 12 wheels

  8. Configuration: 2-6-4T

  9. Top Speed: 80 mph/129 kph

  10. Preserved: 

    1. Real Life: 15 locomotives 

    2. Fictional 1 locomotive (Belle who is modified)

Note: Belle belongs to Thomas and Friends TV Show & is owned by Mattel

  • Belle is a modified version of the BR Standard Class 4 2-6-4T
    • Due to water cannons & a brass bell
    • She is a fictional fire engine (That runs on steam)
