Steam Train Posts #71-74:Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Locomotive Classes 3,4,6 & 7

 Hi All, 

Good Saturday Evening everyone. It's Conductor Wolf letting you know it's time for another edition of Steam Train Posts #71-74 for Saturday February 18th. On this edition of Steam Train Posts, we continue our trip at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway but this time to see their class 3,class 4,Class 6 and Class 7 locomotives that were on their railway. 

First off, I do apologize that this wasn't out earlier in the afternoon (around 2 pm) on Saturday February 18th. But here it is after a long wait. But anyway, to start off this post, we will be starting with the Class 3 locomotives and then to class 4 then class 6 and finally ending with the class 7 locomotives. 



L&YR Class 3/4 (Rebuilt)


14. L&YR Class 3 Details
  1. Railroad/Basic: L&YR {Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway}
  2. Engine: Tender Engine
  3. Designer: John Aspinall
  4. Builder: Horwich Works
  5. Built (Year): 1891-1894 => 40 locomotives
    1. Horwich Works => 40 Locomotives
    2. Total: 40 locomotives
  6. Withdrawn: 1925-1930=> 40 real locomotive
  7. Number of Wheels: 14 wheels
  8. Configuration: 4-4-0 
  9. Preserved:  0 real locomotives

15. L&YR Class 4 Details

  1. Railroad/Basic: L&YR {Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway}
  2. Engine: Tender Engine
  3. Designer: George Hughes 
  4. Builder: Horwich Works
  5. Built (Year): 1908-1909 => 6 rebuilt locomotives
    1. Horwich Works => 6 rebuilt Locomotives
    2. Total: 6 rebuilt locomotives
  6. Withdrawn: 1925-1926=> 6 rebuilt locomotive
  7. Number of Wheels: 14 wheels
  8. Configuration: 0-4-0st 
  9. Preserved:  0 real locomotives

16. L&YR Class 6 Details

  2. Engine: Tank Engine
  3. Designer: George Hughes 
  4. Builder: Horwich Works
  5. Built (Year): 1911-1914 => 64 rebuilt locomotives
    1. Horwich Works => 64 Locomotives
      1. 20 new Locomotives 
      2. 44 rebuilt locomotives 
    2. Total: 64 locomotives
  6. Withdrawn: 1961=> 64 locomotive
  7. Number of Wheels: 8 wheels
  8. Configuration: 2-4-2st 
  9. Preserved:  possible 3 real locomotives but unknown

17. L&YR Class 7 Details

  2. Engine: Tank Engine

  3. Designer: John Aspinall 

  4. Builder: Horwich Works

  5. Built (Year): 1899-1902 => 40 locomotives

    1. Horwich Works => 40 Locomotives

      1. 1st batch came out in 1899 

      2. 2nd batch came out in 1902

    2. Total: 40 locomotives

  6. Withdrawn: 1926-1934=> 40 locomotive

  7. Number of Wheels: 12 wheels

  8. Configuration: 4-4-2

  9. Preserved:  0 real locomotive
